Deeply passionate about the rights of the unborn, Monica Flynn has been actively involved in the Pro-Life movement for 20 years. Founder and CEO of Mommies Matter, Monica’s determination to do more in helping women choose life for their unborn stemmed from her 15+ years of work as a hotline consultant for a pregnancy health center. Monica graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a major in Mechanical Engineering. She served our country as a United States Air Force officer stationed at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Monica and her husband Kevin have been blessed with a 31-year marriage, five children and three grandchildren. They currently reside in Galena, OH, after enjoying 20 years in Westerville, and are active parishioners at St John Neumann in Sunbury.
Formally trained as an Occupational Therapist, Jamie’s clinical experience has given her the tools to influence people across the lifespan to live life to its fullest through promoting health and prevent - or live better with - injury, illness or disability. Through the application of her training, Jamie thrives among opportunities to influence, determine strategic direction, build relationships and execute plans. Her career pathway, has provided keen insight into injury prevention/management, health/lifestyle management, and absence/disability management. Jamie’s passion is also exhibited through her volunteer role as Board Chair for Mommies Matter. She has demonstrated servant leadership through the commitment of improving the lives of single mothers in crisis. Jamie strives to promote healthy lifestyles for both mother & child. She is a catalyst, possessing an innate ability to create alternative ways to proceed; thereby turning thoughts into action.
December Summersett works full-time as a Benefits Coordinator at one of the largest public pension funds in the country. During her free time she volunteers as the Outreach Director at Mommies Matter. December has a passion to serve single mothers and give back because she was a single mother at one time and understands the issues and obstacles single moms face everyday. December is married to her wonderfully supportive husband David and they share four beautiful children, three sons and one daughter. December holds a BS in Public Relations from Franklin University.
A native of eastern Ohio, Lori Criss has been engaged in the behavioral health field since 1992. Her experience includes working for the Ohio Commission on Minority Health and Amethyst, Inc. Prior to coming to OhioMHAS, Lori served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ohio Council of Behavioral Health & Family Services Providers. Ms. Criss holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from The Ohio State University. She graduated from SAMHSA’s 2010-2011 Women's Addiction Services Leadership Institute, a year-long nationally-selective, intensive program designed to build leaders for the nation’s behavioral health field. Lori has most recently served on the Advisory Board to Ohio’s Criminal Sentencing Commission, the National Council for Behavioral Health’s Addiction Policy Committee, and Ohio’s Housing and Homeless Collaborative. She is a former board member for the National Alliance for Recovery Residences and served as the Principal Advisor for Ohio Recovery Housing.
Leisa Ehlers is a registered nurse specializing in maternal newborn nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Miami University of Ohio. As a labor and delivery nurse, women’s health nurse, and Mommies Matter board member, Leisa is passionate about providing support to moms and witnessing the miracle of birth. In her role as an Ally for Mommies Matter, she is able to continue serving women during this special and challenging chapter of their lives. Leisa is married to Robert Ehlers, a retired Air Force officer, and spent 24 years moving around the world as a military spouse. She and Robert have three daughters. Leisa is a member of the Saint John Neumann Parish and resides in Westerville, Ohio.
Micah Haralson is a native of Michigan, and currently resides in Columbus, Ohio. A family man and a father of 9 children 6 boys and 3 girls. Micah is passionate about education, children, and the our young "Men" in the world. He is a small business owner in Early Education arena for the last 10 years, which allows him to touch many of the young lives’ day to day. Micah has become extremely passionate about Mommies Matters in the last few years, joining forces with these fabulous Mothers, Volunteers, and Board Members here in Columbus, Ohio with the mission to saving lives! Micah currently serves on the Board of Directors for Mommies Matter.
Cindy is honored to be a founding board member of Mommies Matter. As a single mother to her son Bill, she has a great deal of empathy and understanding for the mothers we serve. Cindy began with mentoring single moms to help them get through their pregnancy and first months as a mother. She has learned everyone has different needs and desires and it is always interesting and uplifting to find potential solutions for each one. In her professional life, Cindy has taught dancing to hundreds of dancers since she started teaching at the age of 14. She has been a professional dancer, TV news reporter and small business owner, and finds the true blessings in life come from helping others.
